A Well-Crafted Home
Janet Crowther

A beautiful, practical book for both aspiring makers and seasoned crafters.

Synopsis: A Well-Crafted Home includes simple, creative details that will tailor a space to your taste. More than just -DIY- crafts, these carefully designed projects call for good materials–like linen, leather, and wood–so the finished product will last you a lifetime. Ranging from beginner to more advanced, each item elevates a room in a way you’d never expect: a large-scale painting with an effortless -dot- design looks like a modern piece of art, flax linen bedding sewn with a few easy seams is gorgeous way to set off the bed (and is more affordable than you would think), and a copper pipe rack for hanging clothes is so pretty, you’ll want to keep it on display.

. . . . . . . . . . .

I really liked this book, but then I am very partial to the farmhouse look. The cover and inside photos portray a very clean, farmhouse look so many are going for these days. It is a nice sized book at 224 pages and features 60 projects for various rooms in your house. The projects vary in complexity from a napkin ring to a hammock. I will say that most of the projects in this book are definitely for the more experinced DIYer. This is not a newbie craft book, but it is lovely.

As for my taste, many of the projects are simply not my cup of tea. There are a few of the smaller projects that I’d like to try, like the soft planter cover, looped-tassel wall hanging, air-dry clay bowls, and modern latch hook stool, but the bigger projects are a little too complicated for me. The book is also lacking step by step progress photos, instead there is only a finished project photo.

Overall, the book is beautifully photographed and an interesting read, but not 100% for me. For that, I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars. But, this book would be a great addition to your DIY home library if you are a seasoned crafter or one who likes the earthy, natural, and organic look.

Thank you to Blogging with Books for sending me an advance reader’s copy in exchange for my honest review!
